Q) Help! I have a UPS, but no software to shut down my computer!

Since this seems to be a hot topic, I'm including the source and man page
to the program I use - it's real short. Got it from comp.sys.sun.admin.
It includes instructions on how to make the cable.

Basicly, you hook the output of the UPS to the CD line on TTYB. Under
normal power, CD is false. The power daemon tries to open the port, finds
it not available, and goes to sleep.

On power failure, CD goes active, and the daemon wakes up and shuts the
system down. It has a second loop, so you can tell it to check again in
10 min, to make SURE it's an outage and not a dip.

Now, if someone knows enough C - an interesting addition would be a
modified shutdown program, that would power down the UPS at shutdown's
conclusion, instead of (or before, shouldn't matter) halting the system.
