Installing The Software
Step by step guide to installing the software.

  1. Download the WestNet Backup program installer ebwn.exe from this link. Make sure you remember where you save it on your hard drive.

  2. Launch ebwn.exe.

  3. Select Folder:
    The program defaults to installing in C:\Program Files\WestNet\WestNet Backup\
    Most users should accept this default. Advanced users may select their own directory

  4. Install application for:
    Most users should take the default -- Only for me (Current User only)

    Advanced users, system admin, may select for anyone, if machine has multiple accounts.

  5. Program will install

  6. License - read and accept license.

  7. Select backup server one. There is currently no on-line sign-up.
    Enter Username/Password provided to you by WestNet for your backup account.

    We suggest generating a PGP key. This will make all your backups encrypted. Even if stolen, your backups will be of no use to anyone. It is VITAL if you choose this, however, to secure your key. If you lose your key, your backup will be of no use to YOU.

    For personal backups, if you are more afraid of losing your key than someone stealing your data, you can choose not to encrypt your backup.

  8. Backup open files:
    This will let you backup files that are in use, a handy feature. We suggest installing this driver for Windows NT/2k/XP, however it may require admin rights.
  9. When you click Finish, Application will now launch. (unless you uncheck Launch the application box)
You are now ready to create your first backup set.
